Ahmad Sayasneh

Ahmad Sayasneh is a Consultant gynaecologist who is specialised in complex surgery. To that extent, many of his patients are referred by other gynaecologists because of his surgical expertise in advanced open and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. He is an international expert in Gynaecological Ultrasonography who significantly contributes to the body of scientific evidence in gynaecological ultrasound examination. This includes gynaecological and early pregnancy diagnostics using ultrasound.

Mr. Ahmad Sayasneh works as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust since 2015. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer (Research) in the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine, King’s College London since 2016, and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Department of Surgery and Cancer since 2015. He has completed his Obstetrics and Gynaecology training with subspecialty in Gynaecological Oncology from London Deanery, Hammersmith Hospital. At Cambridge University Hospitals, Mr Sayasneh has completed the advanced training module in vaginal surgery for benign disease, accredited by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists RCOG. This gave him special experience in the reconstructive vaginal surgery. He has completed the advanced training module in vulval disease at Addenbroke’s Hospital, Cambridge University. He developed special interest in the management of vulval atrophy and lichen sclerosis. He has completed his colposcopy training and he was accredited as a colposcopist by the BSCCP in September 2010. Before joining the training programme he has completed a two year fellowship in obstetrics and gynaecology with focus on minimal access surgery at the Medway Maritime Hospital. He was graduated from Damascus University in Syria in 1998 with Academic Distinction degree awarded by the ministry of higher education. Mr Sayasneh has obtained different fellowships in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery (gynaecological oncology, endometriosis) in different overseas countries (Czech Republic, Syria, and Italy) which has given him great experience in the different aspects of practice in this field. He obtained his MRCOG in 2006.

Mr Sayasneh has developed interest and experience in Mr. Sayasneh has a long track of publications with more than 40 scientific papers in international peer review journals. He has authored 2 chapters (Grey’s Anatomy and Ovarian cysts) and he is currently editing a book on gynecological ultrasound. He has an h-index of 17 with Google scholar. He has been invited to speak and chair at several international meetings on subjects relating to the use of ultrasound and diagnostics in Gynaecology. He is a member in the International, European and British Societies of Gynecological Oncology (IGCS, ESGO, BGCS), a member of the Faculty Board of the international society for ultrasound in obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG) since 2011 and in The British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) since 2017. He is a faculty member of the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) group and was invited to attend the steering committee meeting a few times in Leuven, Belgium. He has developed special research interest in gynecological imaging and oncological surgery. He is the Chief and Principle Investigator PI for a number of local and national (including NIHR studies) at Guy’s and St Thoams’ NHS Foundation Trust (The ROCKET trial and The Desktop III trial)
