Droopy Eyelids

Droopy Eyelids

Correction of droopy upper eyelids that impair vision (also known as ptosis) restores a smooth, natural contour to the upper eyelid.

The procedure corrects a hooded upper eyelid and lifts the position of the eyelid margin which has dropped causing a tired appearance. Droopy upper eyelids that impair your upper peripheral vision may be improved with ptosis surgery. We use specialised techniques to reposition the upper eyelid, including reducing excess, obstructive skin and repositioning the muscles to create a natural-looking, brighter appearance to the eyelids.

Generally outpatient, correction of droopy eyelids is most commonly performed under general or local anesthesia with sedation.

Correction of droopy eyelids may be covered by your insurance; please discuss your potential benefits and precertification for surgery with our staff.

You may engage in light activity the day after your surgery. Depending on any accompanying procedures, a return to more normal activity may take 1-2 weeks. Your appearance will gradually improve over the following 4-6 weeks.

Proper skincare and sun protection including sunglasses, are essential during healing. Results are often long-term, although you will continue to age naturally.
