Breast Repair

Breast Repair

Breast repair surgically improves a previous breast procedure.

Breast repair is appropriate to help correct a prior procedure. The reasons for which you may desire or have a breast repair recommended include:

Outcomes of prior procedures did not meet your expectations.

Complications have arisen such as excess scar tissue (capular contracture), rippling, a double bubble (breast tissue is sagging around the implant) bottoming out of an implant, or malposition of implants such as too far apart, too high, too low, or too close together (symmastia).

Your body has changed and you desire changes in the shape, size or appearance of your breasts.

Breast repairs can generally be performed through the same incisions by which you had your initial breast surgery. Specialized techniques and the use of tissue substitutes or fat grafting may be recommended if you lack tissue to cover an implant or require additional support for the implant.

Generally outpatient, under general anesthesia, a breast repair may require an overnight stay when combined with other procedures.

Recovery depends on the extent of your breast repair. You can return to light activities within 2-3 days and your regular activities within 2-3 weeks.

Results can be long-term, but weight loss/gain, future pregnancy, or natural aging may alter your appearance.
