Mr Ghanem is a passionate supporter of various humanitarian and charitable causes. He uses his reconstructive surgical skills to offer medical treatment to victims of conflict in his native Syria and Libya. He actively supports and promotes service development in paediatric and adult reconstructive surgery in India and Gaza. And he is a consultant in healthcare programme development to the International Medical Education Trust.
